City Council vs. RV's...Update

E-mail

The turn of events after the community was informed about the a proposed measure by some members of City Council to limit private property rights (Limitation of parking recreational and utility vehicles) has been unexpected to say the least.  Some members of City Council have even gone to the extent of  expressing great concern over the number of people that have been informed and are involved in voicing their opinion in this matter.  Where our Mayor Jim Woodward and City Council Member Linda Olsen have gone to the extent of saying that the flyer distributed to the community contained "half-truths" and was intended to attack Council members and cause "negativity" in our city...
(Click >>>here<<< for a copy of the flyer distributed to make your own opinion)

Below is an audio clip of Council Member Linda Olsen talking about this issue and responding to the distribution of the flyer:

(Audio clip from the Englewood City Council Study Session on July 26th 2010 - Linda Olsen Council Members Choice)

Linda stated that, this flyer has done great harm to the community, although never addressed the harm imposed on the community if Recreational Vehicles were made illegal to park in Englewood - as stated during the Study session on July 6th 2010. (For audio of these statements made by Council Member Linda Olsen during the Study Session on July 6th 2010 click

Additionally, below is a clip of comments made by Mayor Jim Woodward at this same meeting (Comments made were in violation of decorum and directed at a member of the audience during session) :

(Audio clip from the Englewood City Council Study Session on July 26th 2010 - Linda Olsen Council Members Choice)

The fact is, despite the actions and response of these members of City Council attempting to discredit, and play down the information provided to the community.  This is a real issue, and right now there are people in your city government deciding if you can or cannot park recreational vehicles on your own private property.

It is important for everyone concerned to stay involved and continue to attend City Council meetings as well as the Code Enforcement Advisory Committee which usually meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the “Odd” months.  There will be a Special meeting on Wednesday August 18th in the Council Conference room on the 3rd floor of the Civic Center at 6:30PM to continue this discussion.  If you can't attend a meeting audio of the meetings are available online at www.Englewoodgov.org and right here at www.EnglewoodCitizens.org.
